Nicoderm Patch

The Nicoderm patch is a transdermal (absorbed through the skin) medication that is designed to help you quit smoking by replacing the nicotine in your body that you get from cigarettes with the medication. When you stop smoking, nicotine levels can drop quickly which leads to withdrawal symptoms. Using the Nicoderm patch will relieve the cravings for a cigarette and keep these side effects minimal so you can quit more easily.

Nicoderm CQ

The Nicoderm CQ patch comes in three different steps, and each one has its own specific dose of nicotine. These patches have a clear backing and a unique extended release to provide your body with a steady flow of nicotine that lasts all day. The adhesive sticks to your skin easily, and a release liner makes it easy and pain-free to remove the patch when you're ready.

Nicoderm CQ Side Effects

Some side effects of using Nicoderm CQ include mild itching, burning, or redness at the application site which should go away after four days. You may also experience dizziness, nausea, heartburn, flushing of the skin, or a headache. Many people experience common nicotine withdrawal symptoms when first using the patch, which may include anxiety, depression, dizziness, or trouble sleeping. If any of these side effects get worse or persist, contact your doctor right away.

Nicoderm Patch Dose

The dose of your Nicoderm patch depends on how much you smoke. If you smoke more than 10 cigarettes per day, start with step 1, which contains 21 mg of nicotine. If you choose a dose that's too low, it may lead to a relapse. If you smoke less than 10 cigarettes per day, you may start with step 2, which has 14 mg of nicotine. Those who are used to lower levels of nicotine should avoid higher dose patches since it may lead to too much nicotine in the body.
