What Is Biofreeze?

Biofreeze is a topical analgesic (for use on the skin only) that comes in the form of a gel, spray, foam, patch, cream, or roll-on. This topical analgesic can be applied to the skin to provide you with temporary cooling relief. This product is typically used to relieve muscle and joint pain, and contains menthol to help create a cold sensation. This cooling sensation is known as cryotherapy or "cold therapy," a method used to apply very low temperatures to the body to relieve swelling, pain, and soreness. Because it is a pain relief gel, it is used amongst athletes and athetlic trainer to provide fast acting, cooling relief as a form of cold therapy. Other examples of cryotherapy include ice baths and ice packs.

What Does Biofreeze Do?

Biofreeze provides temporary relief from a variety of pain conditions, including acute neck and lower back pain. It's a very popular choice among athletes, since early application on an injury may relieve pain while allowing them to continue to move and stay active. This product is often used for everyday pain, including arthritis, shoulder and wrist pain, ankle pain, and knee pain. It may also be applied to relieve muscle soreness, bruises, aching joints, and mild sprains and strains. It is not intended to relieve headaches, burns, mosquito bites, or open wounds.
