This dressing absorbs and does not adhere to the wound bed and is easily removed. Melgisorb is a soft, sterile Calcium Sodium Alginate dressing that absorbs exudate and quickly turns into a gel to provide a moist environment for wound healing to take place. Melgisorb can be used for a wide range of moderately to heavily exuding, partial to full thickness wounds such as pressure ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, donor sites, postoperative wounds, dermal lesions and other wounds inflicted by trauma.     Cleanse/flush the wound with 0.9% saline or the appropriate solution. Dry the healthy surrounding skin and if needed, protect it with a water-resistant cream/ointment. Apply a dry Melgisorb product to the moist wound bed. Shallow wounds: Chose the correct size of flat dressing to be able to cover the entire wound. Deep wounds and cavities: Cut the appropriate length of the cavity dressing and pack the wound loosely. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing (such as Alldress, Mesorb or Mefilm

Melgisorb can be left in place for several days depending on the wound condition or as indicated by clinical practice. Remove the secondary dressing and discard it in an appropriate way.
